Changing Structure - Limitations

Once established the existing structure can only be added to; it cannot be altered. That is you cannot change the position of Sections/Modules relative to other Sections /Modules and within a Module you cannot change the relative position of a Sub-Section. This is necessary to ensure the integrity of subsequent indexing.

Clearly this means that when initially creating a structure some care is needed to ensure that it is logical.

However you can add new Modules and new Sub-sections to existing Modules at any time.

The EWP process for making changes to project strucure is identical to creating a new one. The only difference in this case is that the 'Create Project Structure Sheet' represents the current structure rather than just the pre-defined Modules and Sub-sections.

EWP provides special processes for changing the names of Modules and Sub-Sections. These ensure that changes are taken into account throughout the project and that there is no accidental subject matter duplication. You can use these process to correct spelling errors or to clarify the project structure for other readers.

See below for a diagram of the structure of the original "EWP Manual" for users. This was constructed as an EWP Project and remains available for download from the ACBA (UK) LTD website.
