Pre-defined Modules and Sub-Sections

Each EWP project has the same pre-defined initial structure. This is necessary to ensure that the underlying automated elements of EWP work correctly and to provide users with a series of standardised locations for specific types of document.

The elements of the EWP pre-defined structure are shown below.

Module Sub-Section Module Ref. Sub-Section Ref.
Index Whole Project A A000
  Draft Report Structures A A050
  Deletions A A100
  Communications - External A A150
  Communications - Internal A A200
Background   B
Resources   C
Report   D
Reminders   E

You will note that the Index module is fully defined with its sub-sections as well as the module name. There is no direct user access to this module. All documents in this module are the result of an automated process.

The remaining modules have been created for convenience and standardisation, but their associated sub-sections have been left for you to define in line with your own requirements. Users are not required to use these modules if they do not serve a useful purpose in the context of the project that they are undertaking.

These standardised modules were created with a clear purpose in mind the following gives guidance on the original intentions for their use.

Ref. Heading Intended Use
A Index The storage area for project indexes and other automated working papers that either report on or depend specifically on the structure and organisation of the project.
B Background Covers any background documentation or information, the terms of reference, any special instructions and the documents (if any) which are to be reviewed (e.g. annual accounts, government subsidy claim etc).
C Resources This module is devoted to resource planning and control. One method of sub-dividing it is to have a ‘Planning and Control’ sub-section, together with a time control sub-section for each team member.
D Report Many projects end up with a report. This module covers the drafting of the report, any agreed programme of action and the results of external/ peer QA reviews of the project. Certain automated working papers (only available to users who have bought the 'Controlled Statements' Add-In) will also be posted to a specially created sub-section within this module.
E Reminders This module is devoted to matters arising, which will affect the future plans of the project team: in audit terms, issues that need to be carried forward to the next or other audits.

The modules F onwards are all created by the you to meet your own requirements. Follow the link to see how user defined modules should be created.
