MS Excel is a very powerful resource and analytical tool, but it is also largely un-controlled. It is easy to
- lose data
- overwrite data
- delete data
- delete and alter formulae
ACBA-EWP is designed to enhance the users ability to store and find his or her work and to provide logical and detailed explanations of the analyses undertaken. In order for this to be effective we have deliberately permitted access to all MS Excel's features. Working safely therefore requires a degree of self discipline.
Work on a copy of original data wherever practicable
- Always identify the source, method of preparation and date of preparation
Name and store your workbooks logically
Use Ctrl-S to save regularly whilst working
- Auto save has advantages and disadvantages
Rename worksheet name tabs descriptively
- or create an index as in EWP
Create an Index of Worksheets and their contents
- In ACBA-EWP this is automated
